Don't drive while sleepy, angry or sad.
These can mimic alcohol-impaired driving.
Don't cause one of these 100,000 crashes per year.
Don't drug and drive.
Illegal drugs and some prescription drugs can affect your
judgment, coordination and reaction time.
Due to the potentially delayed effects of THC and CBD,
wait at least 8 hours to drive after consuming edibles.
Don't drink and drive.
Think about how many people die in mass shootings.
Alcohol-impaired driving kills ten times this.
For added perspective,
the equivalent of the population of
Green Bay Wisconsin was killed during the past decade.
Don't smoke and drive.
After alcohol, marijuana is most associated with impaired driving.
It slows reaction time, impairs coordination and distorts perception.
Smoking anything (cigarettes, cigars, vaping, marijuana) distracts drivers more that a cell phone does.
The ultimate goals of dontdui.org are to
-Prevent deaths and injuries
-Make DUI more of our daily conversation,
not just a "drink responsibly' tagline
Rachelle and her husband Allen were taken suddenly in the early morning hours of June 2021, when a drunk driver drove the wrong way on a highway just outside of Louisville. Rachelle and her family were on their way home from visiting family in Tennessee. Rachelle left behind a beautiful legacy of people that she and her husband helped over the years. They did not do it for notoriety, but to simply be helping hands for others. Rachelle gave back through her job as a child psychologist trying to help children navigate through school with a variety of concerns. She genuinely wanted to help. Rachelle's smile and laugh was infectious. She was a bright light in an often-dark world. Even through 2020, Rachelle would try to find ways to make sure she reached out to everyone and would offer to help while maintaining safety for her family. Rachelle did not know a stranger. She was such a happy person that people were drawn to her. One would feel better by just hearing her voice, seeing her face, or just being in her presence. Rachelle would understand that we mourn our loss of her, but she would want us to celebrate her life, support each other through this dark time, and be with her children and family. We should always remember the fun lady she was with her vivacious spirit. Dontdui.org is humbly dedicated to them.
